Women's Basketball: Balanced scoring throttles Bethany past Geneva on Senior Day

BETHANY, W.Va. – Highlighted by five players in double-figures, the Bethany College women's basketball team picked up a 93-66 victory over Geneva College, Saturday afternoon.

GAME FLOW

  • It was an offensive battle in the first quarter. Geneva opened the game with back-to-back three-pointers. The Bison quickly regained composure and went on a 7-0 run to take the lead. After a back-and-forth battle, Taylor Dusenberry made a jumper to give the Bison a 17-13 lead with under five minutes to go in the first stanza.
  • Geneva took the lead at 3:32 with a Mia San Nicolas three and made layup, 22-18. The Bison climbed back and regained the lead after a pair of Ashleigh Wheeler free throws. The Bison led 27-24 after the first.
  • The Bison outscored the Golden Tornadoes, 18-13 in the second quarter to take a 45-37 lead into the halftime break.
  • The second half was all the Bison as they scored 48 points while holding the Golden Tornadoes to 29. The Bison led by as many as 30 points in the second half.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Bella Skobel had a career-high 25 points with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals.
  • Sophie Morey had a double-double with 17 points and 15 rebounds.
  • Alexis Heap added 17 points and pulled in nine rebounds.
  • Taylor Dusenberry had 14 points off the bench.
  • Ashleigh Wheeler was shy of a quadruple-double with 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and six steals.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Bison had 21 team assists on 36 made field-goals.
  • Bethany outrebounded Geneva, 53-32.
  • The Bison dominated the Golden Tornadoes in the paint scoring 64 points.
