Bison Women’s Soccer Defeated by Thomas More

Oct. 28 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College women's soccer team was defeated, 9-0, by Thomas More College on Wednesday night.

The two teams from the Presidents' Athletic Conference battled early as heavy rainfall slowed the pace down for the majority of the first half.

The Saints (14-0-2) took a 2-0 lead after Julia Flagge-Echols converted a penalty kick in the 24th minute of play.

Bethany (2-13-1) goaltender Taylor Sasak (Berea, Ohio/Berea) totaled eight saves in the first half to limit the Saints' advantage to three goals.

Thomas More extended their lead in the second half with a steady offensive attack that produced 15 shots.

The Bison offense struggled to generate many scoring chances as the Saints defense held Bethany in check throughout most of the match.

Sasak finished the game with 11 saves and was replaced by Anna Riddle (Mt. Pleasant, Pa./Mt. Pleasant) who collected a save in 16 minutes of action.

Bethany will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 31 as they welcome Thiel College to Hoag Field at 1:00 pm.
