Women’s Soccer Stumbles Against Washington & Jefferson

Oct. 17 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College women's soccer team fell 5-1 to Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon.

The Presidents' jumped out to an early lead after scoring in the 6th minute of the contest.

The Bison trailed, 3-0, at the intermission as Jordan Toohey scored two goals in the 20th minute. Bethany recorded four shots in the period and narrowly missed on a couple scoring chances.

Washington & Jefferson added to their lead in the 51st minute as Toohey found her teammate Ashton Grimm to make it a four-goal game.

Sophomore Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W. Va./Brooke) took a pass from Julie Slezak (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) and found the back of the net to tally a score for the Bison. Hinerman currently has a team-high seven goals this season.

Bethany contained the Presidents' attack in the second period and found an offensive rhythm with six shots in the half. The Bison had two goals called back due to late offside calls.

Sophomore goaltender Taylor Sasak collected 14 saves in the match. Sasak currently leads the Presidents' Athletic Conference with 151 stops.

Bethany will be back in action on Wednesday, October 21 against Geneva in PAC play.
