Bison Women’s Soccer Stumbles at La Roche

Sept. 5 – Pittsburgh, PA – The Bethany College women' s soccer team was defeated by La Roche College 7-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The Bison (1-1) fought hard early and the game remained scoreless for the first 35 minutes of play.

La Roche (1-0) was finally able to put one past the Bethany defense as Venessa Ceravolo scored in the 37thminute. Ceravolo finished the game with three goals.

Bethany continued to battle and was rewarded when Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W.Va./Brooke) beat Redhawks' goalkeeper Destiney Davis for her third goal of the season.  Hinerman finished the game with four shots.

Bison keeper Taylor Sasak (Berea, Ohio/Berea) totaled 10 saves on the day. The sophomore goaltender was busy all night as La Roche was constantly on the attack.

Junior Julie Slezak (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) had two shots of her own as Bethany finished with eight shots total, four of those coming on goal.

The Bison will return to the field on Wednesday, September 9 when they open their home portion of the 2015 schedule. Bethany will take on Mount Aloysius at 5:30 p.m. at Hoag Field.
