Bison Women’s Soccer Stumbles at Penn State Altoona

Sept. 18 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany women's soccer team fell 6-1 to Penn State Altoona on Friday evening.

The Bison (2-4) found themselves with an early deficit after the Lions found their offensive stride early. The Lions scored early goals in the 12th and 15th minutes to take a 2-0 lead.

Penn State Altoona kept the pressure on the Bison defense, netting three more goals before the end of the first half.

The second period was a much different story, as the half remained scoreless until the 87th minute. Bethany's Brittany Fullbright took a corner kick and found teammate Lindsey Cornish who finished it off for her first goal of the season.

Penn State Altoona responded just 22 seconds later to make it a 6-1 game.  The Lions recorded 28 shots in the game.

Michaela Hinerman and Fullbright led the Bethany offense with three shots each. Sarah London added two shots.

Bison goalkeeper Taylor Sasak recorded a season-high 15 saves, marking her fifth game this season with double-digit saves.
