Bison Women’s Soccer Falls to Westminster

Oct. 24 – NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Bethany College women's soccer team fell, 3-0, to Westminster College in Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon.

The Bison (2-12-1) found themselves in a tight game early as neither team could gain an advantage.

Westminster (12-1-2) broke the tie with the first score of the game in the 33rd minute. The Titans added to their lead a few minutes later as Devin Furness netted a goal to make it a 2-0 contest.

The Bison trailed by two goals at the intermission. Sophomore goaltender Taylor Sasak (Berea, Ohio/Berea) collected seven saves in the opening period.

The Titans quickly added to their lead in the second half with a goal in the 48th minute.

Bethany continued to battle and played the Titans tough for the rest of the half, but the offense failed to tally a score. The Green & White totaled seven shots in the match.

Sasak finished the game with a season-high 17 saves. The sophomore broke her season high of 16 saves that she set in the previous contest.

Offensively, the Bison were led by Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W. Va./Brooke) and Madison Cochran (Grafton, W. Va./Grafton). Hinerman had three shots, while Cochran added two of her own.

Bethany will return to the pitch on Wednesday, October 28 as they take on Thomas More at Bison Stadium at 8:00 p.m.
