Bison tripped up in second half in loss at Muskingum, 3-1

NEW CONCORD, Ohio. (Sept. 23) - The Bethany College women's soccer team took a lead into halftime, but three second half goals by Muskingum propelled the host team to a 3-1 win in non-conference play Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bison started strong right from the opening whistle of the match. The Bison held the initial pressure which led to the game's opening goal.
- Sophomore Kadin Gould (Huntington, W.Va./St. Joseph) took a shot from the right side of the box that found the back of the net only two minutes and 52 seconds into the match to give Bethany a 1-0 lead.
- The Bison were limited to only two more shots throughout the remainder of the first half, but maintained the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
- Bethany controlled the first 15 minutes of the second half. Freshman Riley Meyers (Dubois, Pa./Dubois Central Catholic) led the charge with four shot attempts, including two on goal that were stopped by the Muskie goalkeeper.
- Muskingum capitalized in the 60th-minute of the match with a goal to even the score.
- The Muskies notched the eventual game-winning goal in the 71st-minute and added an insurance marker less than three minutes later to secure a 3-1 lead.
MATCH NOTES
- Freshman goalkeeper Maria Concha Vazquez (Queretaro, Mexico/Thomas Jefferson) returned to the net after playing in the field in the team's last game. She finished with four saves in the loss.
- Muskingum held an 18-to-12 advantage in total shots, but only a 7-to-6 edge in shots-on-goal.
