Baseball: Owens earns PAC Rookie of the Week

TRAFFORD, Pa. – Bethany College freshman catcher CJ Owens (Austin, Texas / Elgin) was named Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week for his performance during week one.

Owens posted a .357 batting average and .500 on-base percentage with six runs scored through the first five games for the Bison. He singled and scored two runs in the season-opening win over La Roche. In Saturday's opening game against Pitt-Bradford, Owens had a double, triple, scored twice and drove in one. He came back Sunday to reach base twice with a single and walk while stealing a base and scoring twice in a 6-5 game-one victory.

The weekly laurel is Owens' first of his career.

Owens and the Bison return to action on Saturday, Mar. 4 in a non-conference double-header against Penn State-Fayette at Bethany Park. First pitch is set for 12 pm.
