Baseball: Bison earn sixth straight win in victory over Red Hawks

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Bethany College baseball team's winning streak extended to six after a narrow, 8-7 win over La Roche University Friday afternoon.

The Bison struck first scoring back-to-back runs in the second inning. Josh Speaker grounded out to the third baseman, allowing Luke Beatty to score. Moments later, Hayden Fox hit a sacrifice fly to drive in Grant Schaffner. In the bottom half of the inning, the Red Hawks scored on a wild pitch. The Bison led 2-1 after two innings of play. Both teams scored a run in the third inning.

In the fifth inning, the Bison plate four runs to balloon their lead to 7-2. The Red Hawks kept battling, cutting the deficit to 7-4. Derek Black scored on an error from the third baseman to give the Bison their final run of the day. In the bottom of the 8th, the Red Hawks have three runs score bringing them within one. With runners on first and second, Kieb hits a ball to right field, Mike Hines riffles a bullet home to Keith Berger to gun out the Red Hawk attempting to knot the game. The Bison would hold on to win the game.
