Bison Field Hockey Falls to Bridgewater College

Oct. 18 – BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bethany College field hockey team fell, 7-1, to Bridgewater College on Sunday afternoon.

The Bison (6-11) trailed early after Bridgewater (6-7) tallied two quick goals. The Eagles added to their lead in the 16th minute to make it a 3-0 contest.

Bethany got on the board in the 24th minute as Selena Vieira (San Jose, Calif./Leland) finished off a cross from T.J. Solomon (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton). Vieira scored her second goal of the season while Solomon added to her team-high assist total (8).

Bridgewater controlled much of the second half with a potent offensive attack. The Eagles totaled 27 shots in the period.

Offensively, the Bison were led by Courtney Gill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands Regional) with two shots. Bailey Boardman (La Verne, Calif./Bonita) and Sierra Cuellar (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) tallied a shot, each.

Senior goaltender Courtney Snyder (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) did her best to limit the Eagles, recording a career-high 24 saves. Sophomore Hunter Webster (Newark, Del./Newark) added a defensive save as well.

Bethany will return to the field on Tuesday, October 20 when they host Washington & Jefferson at 7:30 p.m.
