Bison Field Hockey Defeated by Goucher

Sept. 19 – BALTIMORE, Md. – The Bethany College field hockey team was defeated 5-2 by Goucher College on Saturday evening.

The Gophers jumped out to a quick start behind a goal in the 8th minute. Goucher kept their momentum going through the end of the half, taking a 4-0 lead into intermission.

The second period was a different story for the Bison. Bethany outscored Goucher 2-1 and tallied six shots in the half.

Senior Courtney Gill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands Regional) tallied the first score of the game for Bethany, taking a pass from Amanda Henson (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) and beating Gopher goaltender Quiche Johnson for the goal.

Sophomore Morgan Turner (Frederick, Md./Frederick) notched her first goal of the season, scoring in the 64th minute. Junior Lauren Rao (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Sweet Home) earned an assist on the play.

The Bison offense was led by Gill and Hunter Webster (Newark, Del./Newark). Both recorded two shots-on-goal in the game.

Bison goalkeeper Courtney Snyder tallied eight saves in the contest, playing all 70 minutes in net for the Green & White.

The Bethany field hockey team will be back in action on Sunday, September 20 as they take on Notre Dame of Maryland University at 12:00 p.m.
