Bison Offense Finds Rhythm in Win Over Hood College

Sept. 27- FREDERICK, Md. – The Bethany College field hockey team rolled to a 6-0 win over Hood College on Sunday morning. The Bison scored a season-high six goals in the game.

Junior Amanda Henson (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) gave the Bison (4-6) a 1-0 advantage in the 32nd minute after she scored her first goal of the season.

Shortly after, junior Selena Vieria (San Jose, Calif./Leland) found the back of the net to give Bethany a 2-0 lead right before the intermission.

The Bison poured it on the in the second half, scoring four more goals on six shots. The offense totaled 14 shots in the match.

Senior Courtney Gill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands Regional) scored in the 40th minute and also recorded an assist in the contest. Sophomore Morgan Turner (Frederick, Md./Frederick) made it a 4-0 game as she scored in the 57th minute of play. 

The Green & White expanded its lead to 6-0 as senior T.J. Solomon (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) notched two late goals. Both Gill and Angelica Darling (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) earned assists on the Solomon scores.

The Bison defense stifled the Blazers offensive attack for two full periods. Bethany held the Blazers to two shots in the game, including zero in the opening half.

Bison goaltender Courtney Snyder (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) recorded a shutout as she played all 70 minutes in net. It was the senior's first shutout on the year.

Bethany College will return to action when they host Frostburg State on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:30 p.m.
