Bison Field Hockey Falls to Frostburg State

Sept. 30 – BETHANY, W. Va. – The Bethany College field hockey team was defeated 6-1 by Frostburg State on Wednesday night.

The Bobcats jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third minute after Samantha Schaffer netted an early goal.

The Bison had a couple key defensive stops early, but the Bobcat attack proved to be tough to contain. Frostburg State took a 4-0 lead after Alexandra Darrow scored three goals in a six-minute span.

The Bison tallied a score before the intermission after senior Courtney Gill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands Regional) beat multiple Bobcat defenders and found sophomore Morgan Turner (Frederick, Md./Frederick) for the goal. It was Turner's fifth goal on the season.

Frostburg State, however, continued to put the pressure on the Green & White defense. The Bobcats collected two more scores in the second half.

Bethany was led offensively by Turner and Gill. Turner totaled four shots and Gill had three shots. The Bison recorded five shots in each half.

Bethany goaltender Courtney Snyder (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) recorded seven saves in the contest. Snyder played all 70 minutes between the pipes.

The Bison field hockey team will be back in action on Saturday, October 3 when they take on Earlham College.
