Bethany Field Hockey Slips at Sewanee

Oct. 12 – SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Bethany College field hockey team fell 5-0 to Sewanee on Monday evening.

Sewanee (9-3) took the lead as Virginia Barry scored in the 18th minute to make it a 1-0 game. The Tigers added another score in the 20th minute to take a two-goal advantage.

Bethany (6-9) goaltender Courtney Snyder (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) tallied four saves in the first period, but the Bison trailed 2-0 at the break.

The Tigers kept up the offensive pressure and scored quickly after the intermission. Sewanee added two more goals later in the half.

The Green & White put together a couple scoring chances but failed to capitalize for a score. The Bison recorded five shots in the contest with Natalie Knauer (West Deptford, N.J./Gateway Regional) leading the team with two.

Snyder finished with eight saves in between the pipes for the Bison. The senior goaltender has totaled over 1000 minutes and 86 saves in net on the year. 

Bethany will be back in action on Saturday, October 17 as they take on Eastern Mennonite at 3:00 p.m.
