Field Hockey Drops Road Decision to Wilson

Sept. 26 – CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - The Bethany College field hockey team was defeated 5-1 by Wilson College on Saturday morning.

The Phoenix got off to a fast start after Megan Sterling scored in the fourth minute to take a 1-0 advantage.

Wilson College would go on to score two more goals before the end of the first half. The Bison collected five shots in the period but failed to tally a score.

The second half saw Wilson jump out to a 5-0 lead, recording scores in both the 48th and 61st minute.

The Bison offense was finally rewarded in the 68th minute when senior Courtney Gill (Little Egg Harbor, N.J./Pinelands Regional) took a pass from junior Lauren Rao (North Tonawanda, N. Y./Sweet Home) and found the back of the net. It was Gill's third goal on the year.

Bethany generated multiple scoring opportunities, totaling eleven shots in the contest. T.J. Solomon (Beltsville, Md./Elizabeth Seton) led the offense with four shots in the match. Angelica Darling (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) and Morgan Turner (Frederick, Md./Frederick) finished with two shots each.

Bison goalkeeper Courtney Snyder (Bristol, Pa./Bristol) recorded three saves in the match.

The Green & White will be back in action on Sunday, September 27 when they take on Hood College at 12:00 p.m.
