Dailey Ties Career-High with 18 Boards
By Jayson Ameer Rasheed
Junior Cole Dailey was his usual dominant force as the Bethany College men's basketball team moved to 3-0 on the season with the 90-82 victory Saturday over Penn State-Shenango in non-conference action on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside the Hummel Field House.
Dailey tied a career-high with 18 rebounds to go along with 20 points, seven rebounds and three blocks. The three blocks leave Dailey five rejections away from establishing a new career blocks mark.
Bethany scored nine of the first 11 points and led for all but 45 seconds in the game.
After the Lions took their last lead, it was the usual suspects that were instrumental in restoring order inside Hummel. Dailey gave BC the lead, then a pair of junior Ryan Reasbeck three-pointers sandwiched a three-pointer by junior Troy Hixson, and the lead was quickly back to six, and up to eight at halftime.
A Reasbeck three-pointer just five minutes into the second moved the BC advantage to a game-high 13 points, leading to a Shenango timeout.
Bethany missed seven straight three-pointers as Shenango went on a 13-0 run in four minutes to pull even, forcing a Bison timeout. Coming out of the break, Bethany connected on back-to-back three-pointers to stem the tide. The Bison made enough plays down the stretch to secure the victory.
Reasbeck finished with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while Hixson and freshman Jess Roller added 14 points each. Sophomore Ben Guffey finished with a career-high 10 rebounds.
