Late Run Sinks Bison

The Bethany College men's basketball team had Washington & Jefferson score 16 of the last 21 points as the Bison fell to the Presidents' Saturday, 100-93, in Presidents' Athletic Conference action on Joe Kurey Memorial Court inside Hummel Field House.

Back-to-back three pointer by Cole Matthews gave Bethany a four-point lead with five minutes remaining. Unfortunately, the Presidents responded with 10 straight points to take control.

During the game-deciding run, W&J marched to the line 11 times, converting eight. Free throws were a pivotal part of the contest as Washington & Jefferson made (24) more from the charity stripe than Bethany attempted (nine).

Much like the second, the end of the first half was nearly all Presidents. There was a 17-3 run that put Bethany in a 14-point hole, and the Bison trailed by 10 at the break.

Bethany trailed by as much as 16 in the second half before storming back.

Ryan Reasbeck and Bryson Bishop combined for 13 points as the Bison scored 23 of the next 30 points to pull even at 80. For Bishop, it was the best game of his young career. He had one point and three rebounds in his three games of action but contributed seven points and nine rebounds with a plus-10 in plus/minus. He added five assists for Bethany.

Jess Roller scored a career-high 23 points with one rebound and two steals, while Reasbeck responded from a scoreless outing against Franciscan to drop 19 points with a season-high six rebounds, a career-high tying four steals and two assists.

Cole Dailey added 13 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks and Will Brooks capped four scorers in double digits with 10 points. He added four rebounds, four steals, and two assists.
