SB: Goodnight Named NFCA All-Region
For the first time since 2016, a Bethany College softball player has earned a spot on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association's (NFCA) All-Region team.
Graduate outfielder Destiny Goodnight was named second-team All-Region VII for her work on the field, the organization announced recently. She is one of six Presidents Athletic Conference softball players to earn all-region recognition.
"What Destiny has accomplished this season—and throughout her career—is truly special," said Bethany College Head Coach Olivia Scarbrough. "Earning All-Region honors is a reflection of her hard work and commitment to excellence. She has not only been a leader for our team but has set career records that will inspire future Bison to come. I am incredibly proud of her."
A first-team All-PAC outfielder, Goodnight earned All-PAC honors four times in her career. Her first two awards in 2022 and 2023 were at first base. She was fifth in the PAC, hitting .424 on the season. Her 44 runs scored and 35 stolen bases were second in the PAC. Goodnight finished her career as the program's leader with 92 stolen bases.
Goodnight capped her career in the top 10 of several offensive categories – runs scored (first, 135), batting average (fourth, .386), hits (fourth, 188), and triples (t-fifth, 9).
Bethany opened the season with 15 straight victories and advanced to the PAC Tournament for the second straight season.
