Women's Lacrosse: Bison earn double digit victory over Arrows

PEPPER PIKE, Ohio- The women's lacrosse team kept their momentum going with a victory over the Ursuline Arrows. The Bison had success on both sides of the field to make it consecutive double digit victories.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Bethany- 16 Ursuline- 5

Bethany improves to 2-1.

Ursuline loses their season opener to move to 0-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bethany's offense was the first to strike with an unassisted goal by Jada Carter

  • The Bison were able to stop a free-position shot, but the Arrows scooped the ground ball near the net and were able to score the hard way to tie the game at one.

  • Less than a minute later the Bison were able to retake the lead on a free position shot from the stick of the most recent Presidents Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Week- Tatum Severe.

  • Both teams scored a goal in under a minute to make the score 3-2 with 5:19 on the clock. However Bethany found their groove in the last five minutes scoring three unanswered by the time the clock struck zero. They end the first quarter with a 6-2 lead.

  • The second quarter saw the Bison crack down on defense. The Arrows were only able to take two shots prior to a few last ditch efforts under the two minute mark. Both shots on goal were saved by Leah Crihfield.

  • The Bison prevented a score while slinging three of their own to extend their lead 9-2 entering half.

  • It was only a brief moment that Bethany didn't hold a double-digit lead. Carter scored two of her five goals in the second which boosted the Bison to a 9-2 lead at half.

  • Carter continued to add to the Bison's score early in the third when she was assisted by Abbie Carpenter on back-to-back goals.

  • While Carter and Carpenter were putting in work offensively, they didn't shy away from the defensive side of play. They lead the team in caused turnovers with three a piece.

  • Ursuline's Grace Darone was able to score twice on free position shots, but Bethany was able to get both of those back to hold a 13-4 lead entering the last quarter of play.

  • Everytime the Arrows were able to put up a score the Bison quickly answered back. That theme continued into the fourth and saw the Bison continue to pour it on until the final whistle. They own a positive record on the season after a 16-5 victory over Ursuline.

BISON TOP PERFORMERS

  • Carter finished the game with five goals.

  • Carpenter's six points led the team. She dished three assists to Carter while scoring three of her own.

  • The Bison defense caused more turnovers than they let up in shots. They only allowed 12 shots while causing 16 turnovers.
