Women's Lacrosse: Bison Swoon Seniors in Senior Day Victory vs Waynesburg

BETHANY, W.Va.- The Bison won their first President Athletic Conference lacrosse game of the season against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets. This win also came on senior day, where the Bison recognized four seniors: Karley Trinidad, Gracie Gonzales, Marci Mazza-Fredley, and Alexa Taylor

 

The Basics

Final Score: Bethany 13, Waynesburg 6

How It Happened

  • Scoring early often indicates success. The Bison scored four unanswered goals within the first five minutes of play- all unassisted. Jada Carter scored twice. Tatum Severe found the net. Lexie Reed scored on a free position shot.

  •  Trinidad fittingly scored a goal on senior day. 

  • Carter ended the first quarter by earning a hat-trick at the buzzer to make it 6-1 Bethany. 

  • Each team scored twice in the second quarter, meaning the Bison maintained their five goal lead going into halftime.

  • Bethany had another senior goal in the second half. Gonzales scored hers midway through the fourth quarter. 

  • When the dust settled, the Bison came away victorious with a 13-6 victory. This was Bethany's most successful offensive game in exactly a month, not having put up double digits since playing Muskingum on March 13th. 

  • The Bison seniors leave their day boasting the first PAC victory of the season.

 

Bison Top Performers

  • Carter had a great all around day scoring five goals, earning an assist, and caused four turnovers. 

  • Severe (2) and Reid (3) were the other Bison who scored multiple goals.

  • Sarah Sberna led the team with six ground balls. She also tied Carter for the team high in caused turnovers. 

  • Goalie Leah Crihfield led the Bison with eight saves on 12 shots on goal. 

 

Where Next

Bethany will try to begin building a streak as they travel to Saint Vincent for a night game. That 7PM start is scheduled for Thursday, April 18th.
