Three WSOC Players Named Academic All-District

Three Bethany College women's soccer players have been honored for their achievements on and off the field.

Sophomore Avallina Aurillio, junior Monica Bird, and senior Ava Lee were named 2024 Academic All-District honorees by College Sports Communicators, the organization announced today (Tuesday, November 19, 2024).

"As a coach, nothing makes me prouder than seeing my players succeed not only in their sport but also in their academic endeavors," said Bethany Interim Head Coach Cody Kibler. "Ava, Avallina, and Monica have shown remarkable discipline, time management, and a level of maturity that is truly inspiring. They have handled the pressure of juggling practices, games, travel, and coursework with grace and dedication. Their success is a direct result of their relentless work ethic and their unwavering commitment to being the best versions of themselves, both as athletes and as students.

"What makes this achievement even more meaningful is the heart and soul these players bring to our team," Kibler continued. "They are leaders, role models, and a constant source of inspiration for their teammates. Watching them grow and succeed has been one of the greatest rewards of my career. They represent what it means to be a true student-athlete, and I couldn't be prouder to have them as part of our program."

Aurillio, Bird, and Lee were key members of the women's soccer team that qualified for the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament.

Aurillio, a biochemistry and chemistry major with a 3.94 grade point average, started 16 of 18 games for the Bison. She finished with two goals, two assists, and six points on just eight shots for the Bison.

Bird, a chemistry major with a 3.58 grade point average, started all 18 games for the Bison. She led the team with nine goals and 19 points. She added an assist.

Lee, a biochemistry and chemistry major with a 4.0 grade point average, anchored a defense that enabled Hope Fair to set a school record for the lowest goals-against average for a season.

Bethany finished 8-7-3 overall, 5-4-1 PAC.
