Men's Basketball: Bethany Snaps Losing Streak with Win Over Saint Vincent

Bethany, W.Va. –The Bethany College men's basketball team battled with the Saint Vincent Bearcats to grind out a 57-56 win inside Hummel Field House Monday evening.   

GAME FLOW

• The Bearcats pulled ahead 9-0 before Trent Uphold hit a jumper to get the Bison on the board five minutes into the game.
• The Bison trailed 16-4 before battling back. A Derek White Jr. free-throw brought the Bison within single digits, 28-19 with 6:33 to go in the first half.
• The Bearcats used a shift in momentum to take a 37-23 lead heading into halftime.
• Saint Vincent pulled ahead 39-23 to start the second half but the Bison weren't done battling. The Green and White pulled together a 13-3 run; Brendan Riggs nailed a shot from behind the arc to bring the Bison within two, 41-39.
• Asa Klimchock hit an old-fashion three-point play to cut the Bearcat lead 53-51 with 5:16 to go.
• Moments later, Travis Zimmerman slammed one in to knot the game at 53-53 with five minutes to go in the second half.
• After the Bearcats pulled ahead, Travis Zimmerman put the Bison ahead 57-56 for the final points of the game.

IN THE BOX SCORE

• Travis Zimmerman led the Bison with 16 points. He pulled in five rebounds.
• Brendan Riggs chipped in 14 points with four three's.
• Asa Klimchock added 11 points. Klimchock pulled in eight boards and three assists.
• Derek White Jr. pulled in a team high 10 rebounds and had team-highs in assists (7) and blocks (4).
• Neshawn Brown added six points and pulled in seven boards and had three steals.

MILESTONE WATCH

• Senior Derek White Jr. currently sits fifth all time with 83 career blocks and eighth all time with 277 career assists at Bethany.
