Men's Basketball: Bison Stung by Yellow Jackets

Waynesburg, Pa. – The Bethany College men's basketball team was handed an 81-44 loss to the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets Wednesday evening inside the Rudy Marisa Field House.

GAME FLOW

  • A sloppy start to the game led to the Bison trailing early.
  • Bethany fell behind 7-0 before Brendan Riggs nailed a three to put the Green and White on the board. Moments later, a Quinn Hiles three and layup put the Bison back in the game, trailing 9-8 with 14:37 to go in the first half.
  • Waynesburg went on a run to pull away from the Bison and would take a commanding 34-18 lead heading into halftime.
  • In the first half, Bethany shot 33.3 percent from the field compared to Waynesburg's 37.1 percent. However, the Bison struggled to take care of the ball, with 12 first half turnovers. The Bison turnovers led to 27 Yellow Jacket points.
  • To start the second half, Brendan Riggs hit a three to cut the Yellow Jacket deficit to 13 points. The Yellow Jackets would answer, scoring the next 12 points to take a 46-21 lead.
  • Waynesburg continued to pull away and led by as many as 41 in the game. The Yellow Jackets shot 43.5 percent (10-for-23) from downtown.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Logan Wright led the Bison with 10 points, shooting 2-for-3 from behind the arc and 4-for-5 from the field.
  • Derek White Jr. had a team high seven assists and six rebounds, with two blocks and contributed five points.
  • Quinn Hiles added eight points.
