Men's Basketball: Bison Clipped by Bearcats

Latrobe, Pa. – In a game that went down to the final minute the Saint Vincent Bearcats edged the Bethany College Bison, 67-62 inside the Robert S. Carey Student Center Wednesday evening.

GAME FLOW

  • Brendan Riggs hit back-to-back three's to give Bethany an early 6-3 lead.
  • A sluggish start for both teams in the first five minutes of play, with Bethany leading 6-5.
  • Riggs scored Bethany's first 12 points of the game giving the Bison a 12-5 lead. All 12 of Riggs' points came from behind the arc.
  • Asa Klimchock hit a three, to give Bethany a 15-8 lead with under nine minutes to go in the first half.
  • Bethany held a 29-24 lead into the break. Junior Brendan Riggs led the Bison in the first half with 15 points (5-for-10 from downtown).
  • The Bearcats knotted the game at 32-32 for the first tie of the game since the Bearcats and Bison were tied at 3-3.
  • After deadlocking the game, the Bearcats used a surge to pull ahead 37-33 over the Bison.
  • Back-to-back buckets from Travis Zimmerman brought the Bison within two, 47-45 with under ten minutes to go in the second half.
  • A three ball from Neshawn Brown gave the Bison back the lead, 48-47, but the Bearcats battled and regained the slim lead, 49-48.
  • Riggs' three knotted the game at 55-55 for his first bucket of the second half.
  • Much like the last time the two teams met, the Bison and Bearcats battled down to the last second of the game.
  • Saint Vincent banged in a pair of free throws to pull ahead 62-60. The Bison had an opportunity to regain the lead but missed a three.
  • The Bearcats pulled ahead four after knocking in two from the charity stripe.
  • Saint Vincent capitalized at the foul line and held the Bison to just two points in the final three minutes of play.
