Men's Basketball: Strong Shooting Output Helps Cougars Pull Away From Bison

Pittsburgh, Pa. – The Bethany College men's basketball team fell to the Chatham Cougars, 83-51 Saturday afternoon.

GAME FLOW

  • Chatham took a quick 6-0 lead before the Bison were able to get on the board. Travis Zimmerman hit 1-of-2 from the foul line to make the score 6-1 with 18:04 to go.
  • The Cougars extended their lead to 14-1 before the Bison scored their first field-goal of the game at the 16:04 mark from a Derek White Jr. layup.
  • The Bison trailed 19-3 before the Bison strung together a few buckets to get back into the game.
  • A Zimmerman layup cut the game to single-digits, 29-20 with 4:30 to go in the first half.
  • The Cougars led 35-24 heading into the halftime break.
  • In the second half, the Cougars continued to make shots from behind the arc to pull ahead and maintain a strong lead over the Bison.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Travis Zimmerman led the Bison with 17 points. He pulled in six rebounds and shot 5-for-7 from the foul line.
  • Derek White Jr. contributed eight points and pulled in nine rebounds. He added two assists and two steals.
  • Logan Wright added eight points and four rebounds.
  • The Cougars shot 46.9 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from behind the arc.

IN THE GAME NOTES

  • Derek White Jr. moved to fifth on Bethany's all-time career assists list. He passed Antonio Rudolph (2013-17) who had 289 career assists.
