Women's Tennis Falls in Conference Play to Thomas More

Sept. 30 – CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Bethany College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 Presidents' Athletic Conference decision to Thomas More College on Wednesday afternoon.

The Green & White found themselves trailing 3-0 after doubles action. The duo of Sara Thrall (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) and Alyssa Smydo (Bentleyville, W. Va./Bentworth) posted the best score for the Bison in doubles play, dropping an 8-2 decision to Anna Hetzer and Nicole Capodagli at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, the Bison picked up a point thanks to a straight-set win by freshman Pia Hager (Stuttgart, Germany). Hager improved her PAC record at No. 1 singles to 3-1 with a 6-0, 6-2 win over the Saints' Alyssa DiFiglio.

With the win, Hager became just the second player in the PAC this season to capture seven wins in singles play. She currently boasts the top record in the conference at number one singles, percentage points ahead of Grove City's Maggie Manchester with an .875 win percentage.

The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, October 3 when they take on Mount Aloysius in non-conference action. The Homecoming matchup is scheduled for an 8 a.m. start at the Mary Ewing Tennis Center.
