Women's Tennis Drops Decision to Franciscan

Sept. 4 – STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Bethany College women's tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to Franciscan University on Friday afternoon.

The Green & White found themselves trailing 3-0 after doubles play. Freshmen partners Pia Hager (Stuttgart, Germany) and Anna Heizler (Stegen, Germany) performed well at one doubles, narrowly dropping an 8-6 decision to Maria Binette and Clair Haddad.

In singles play, Hager once again was able to impress as she moved to 2-0 at number one singles in her young career. The freshman tallied a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Binette, and has yet to drop a set in the early goings of the 2015 campaign.

Sophomore Alyssa Smydo (Bentleyville, W. Va./Bentworth) performed well at number four singles, dropping the first set in a close 6-4 decision, before falling 6-0 in set two to Haddad.

The Bison will be back in action on Monday, September 7 when they travel to Pittsburgh, Pa. to take on La Roche College. The match is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
