Pioneers Cruise Past Bison

Canton, Ohio - The Bethany College men's basketball team traveled to Canton, Ohio to face the Malone University Pioneers in a non-conference tilt Saturday afternoon. The Bison fell to the Pioneers, 90-57. Dylan Furlong led the Bison with 12 points.

GAME OVERVIEW

Bethany struck first from a Khalil Wilson layup. The Green and White continued to build the lead after Dylan Furlong nailed a jumper from behind the arc. The Bison took a 7-2 lead before the Pioneers made a run to come back and take the lead with 15:00 minutes to go in the first half. Bethany was held scoreless until the 11:45 mark of the first half after Craig Sauers laid in a layup. The Pioneers led 17-9. The Bison had a run to cut the lead to five, off of another Furlong trey from behind the arc, 20-15. The Green and White battled to keep the lead close, Bethany trailed 37-28 at the half.

The Bison struck first in the second half, from a Wilson jump shot, the Pioneer leads was only 37-30. The Pioneers and Bison answered each opponent's buckets. After back to back buckets from the Pioneers, the lead quickly grew to 49-39. Back to back Bison turnovers allowed the Pioneers to maintain their lead in double digits.  With 12:18 left in the second half, Sauers hit a three to cut the lead to 10, but the Pioneers had an answer and then some. The Pioneers held the Bison scoreless again until the 8:25 mark after Dalton Hamrick hit a jumper from behind the arc. The Pioneers were in cruise control throughout the second half.
