Men's Basketball Clipped by Geneva

Bethany, W.Va– The Bethany College men's basketball team opened up the second half of PAC conference play against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes Saturday afternoon, inside Hummel Field House. The Bison's late comeback fell short to the Golden Tornadoes, falling 72-64. The Green and White were led by sophomore Khalil Wilson with 16 points and four steals. Dalton Hamrick and Derek White Jr. added 13 and 11 points respectively.  

GAME OVERVIEW

Geneva opened up the game scoring the first six points and held Bethany scoreless for the first five minutes of the game. Aiden Albert put the Bison on the board with a fast break layup after the steal. The Golden Tornadoes stretched the lead to double-digits 12-2, but  the Bison scrapped back to cut the lead to two, 16-14 with under ten minutes to go in the first half. With eight minutes remaining, the Green and White cut the lead to 21-20, from a Derek White Jr. old fashion three-point play.

Unfortunately for the Bison, the Golden Tornadoes pulled away scoring the next twelve points to take a double-digit lead. Geneva led 35-25 going into the break.

Bethany chipped away at the Geneva lead in the second half. White Jr. cut the lead Golden Tornado lead to single-digits after a pair of freebies from the charity stripe. A Geneva three would stretch the lead back to double-digits. The Green and White continued to chip away bringing the Bison within one with under six minutes left in the game.

A Dalton Hamrick old fashion three point play knotted the game at 57-57 with 5:41 to go in the half. Bethany took the lead off of a free throw off the hands of Trey Shifflett. The Bison went up three from a Khalil Wilson fast break layup, however, the Bison lead didn't last long. The Golden Tornadoes knotted the game at 60-60.

The Bison and Golden Tornadoes battled in the final minutes with the Golden Tornadoes pulling away from the Green and White.
