Balanced Offense Leads Bethany in Win Over Geneva

Beaver Falls, Pa – The Bethany College women's basketball team opened up Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes Wednesday evening. The Bison used their 22 offensive rebounds and 23 assists to capture their first win of the season. The Green and White dealt the Golden Tornadoes a 77-69 loss. Junior guard, Allison Kuhn paced the Bison with a career-high 22 points.

GAME OVERVIEW

The Golden Tornadoes took a quick 9-5 lead six minutes into the game. The Bison took charge to gain the lead after an Amanda Reynolds jumper from behind the arc with 2:06 to go in the stanza. Geneva answered to capture the lead back but a Makayla Reynolds layup gave the Bison the lead back and the Green and White held onto a narrow lead at the end of the first, 16-14.

The Bison kept momentum going in the second quarter, scoring the first five points to open the quarter. The Golden Tornadoes battled to cut the deficit to 29-27 heading into the break.

In the third quarter, the Bison defense came out flat, allowing the Golden Tornadoes to tie the game and build a lead. The Green and White trailed 41-33 with under six minutes to go. A Haylie Glass layup began the rally to get back into the game. Makayla Reynolds scored the Bison's next four points to cut the deficit to 44-41.  Geneva answered with a three to go back up 47-41. With under a minute to go in the third stanza, Allison Kuhn hit a huge three before heading into the fourth.

Down two, Bethany opened the fourth quarter with an old fashion three point play off the hands of Abbey Dobbins to regain the Bison lead. Geneva answered with a bucket of their own. However, Kuhn responded with another old fashion three point play to take the lead back, 55-53. Bethany and Geneva battled neck and neck over the course of the fourth quarter, but in the final minutes the Green and White sealed the game with an 8-1 run to capture the win.
