Men's Basketball: Bethany falls to Fairmont St.
FAIRMONT, W.Va. – The Bethany College men's basketball team took on Fairmont State University in a non-conference matchup Wednesday afternoon. The Fighting Falcons handed the Bison a 117-81 loss.
GAME FLOW
- Bethany kept the game close throughout the first half, only trailing by double-digits a few times. Bethany was within four with under five minutes to go in the first half. Fairmont St. would go on a 20-11 run to take a 60-47 lead heading into the halftime break.
- To start the second half, Cole Dailey and Tony Fox hit back-to-back three's to cut the deficit to single digits. However, the Fighting Falcons went on a 19-3 run to balloon their lead to 25.
- Fairmont St. hit the century mark at the 5:33 mark of the second half and led by as many as 38 in the dominate victory over the Bison.
IN THE BOX SCORE
- Cole Dailey led the Bison with 18 points, shooting 7-for-12 from the field.
- Freshman Cole Matthews had 15 points, shooting 5-for-8 from behind the arc.
- Troy Hixson added 11 points shooting 3-for-8 from behind the arc.
- Freshman Colin Meany pulled down six boards and had four assists to lead the team. He added seven points.
- Freshman Ben Guffey and junior Chance Wells chipped in eight points each.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Fairmont St. shot 55.8% (43-77) from the field while holding the Bison to 46.7% (28-60).
- The Fighting Falcons made 19 three's while the Bison had 15.
- The Bison were out rebounded, 43-30.
- Bethany gave up 26 points off of their 17 turnovers.
