Men's Basketball: Cole Dailey records 100th career block in 47th career game

For many, just the idea of playing a collegiate sport is the peak of their athletic career. Others peak by earning playing time, contributing to big wins in college. For an athlete like Bethany's Cole Dailey, neither of these achievements would be his peak. Dailey would arrive at Bethany's campus in the fall of 2022 and begin making a difference for the Bison as a true freshman, largely because of the belief that the former head coach Mike Worrell had in him.
"When I got here in 2022, I didn't think I would play as a freshman or ever set any records," Cole said. "I have three records now and I'm close to the all-time record [in blocks] and even on pace for 1000 career points next year. I wouldn't have done this without my teammates, Coach Johnson, and Coach Worrell. Coach Mike [Worrell] was the only one who had full trust and belief in me out of high school."
Dailey is the owner of the single season records for blocks per game (2.8 BPG) and total blocks (69 blocks), both records achieved in his freshman season. Just this week, Dailey would add to his impressive defensive resume.
In the first half of the game against Washington and Jefferson, Dailey would block four shots, with his fourth block being Dailey's 100th career block. Dailey joins Matt Drahos (2002-2006), British Alexander (2010-2012), and Liam Davis (2014-2018) as the only four Bison in history to record 100 career blocks. Now Dailey's eyes move towards chasing 133 blocks to break the career record and potentially becoming the first Bison to record 200 career blocks.
"Hopefully I can get the record [133 blocks] next year, and 200 would be incredible," Dailey said. "Hopefully I stay healthy and play good enough to get to 200 [career blocks]."
