Women's Lacrosse: Lions Hand Bison First Loss of the Season

Cincinnati, Ohio – The Bethany College women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-10 decision to Mount. St. Joseph Saturday afternoon at Schueler Field.

THE BASICS

Final Score: Mt. St. Joseph 12, Bethany 10     

Records: Bethany (2-1, 0-0); Mount St. Joseph (2-1, 0-0). 

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bethany took a 3-1 lead with 6:30 to go in the first period. The Lions battled and took a 5-3 lead after one period of play. Bison goals came from Abbie Carpenter, Rikiah Wise and Alexa Taylor.
  • The Bison scored the first two goals of the second period coming from Joanna Melita and Cassidy Mailloux.
  • The Lions regained the lead scoring three straight goals to take an 8-5 lead with 6:31 to go in the half.
  • Cassidy Mailloux scored with just over three minutes to go in the half. Bethany trailed 8-6 heading into the halftime break.
  • The Bison outscored the Lions 2-1 in the third period.
  • A strong beginning in the fourth period gave the Lions a four goal lead.
  • Bethany attempted to comeback with goals by Wise and Mailloux but fell short by two goals.
