Women's Volleyball: Volleyball Honored with USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Bethany College women's volleyball team was selected as a recipient of the United States Marine Corps (USMC) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award, based on the squad's outstanding grade point average during the 2022-23 academic year.

The Bison posted a team grade point average of 3.48. A total of 1,332 collegiate and high school teams earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, including 229 Division III women's teams.

The Team Academic Award, which started following the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The Bison earned their third Presidents' Athletic Conference championship last season, finishing the season with an overall record of 17-13 (7-4 PAC). The team opens the 2023 campaign on Friday, Sept. 1, with two matches at Cedar Point Sports Center in Sandusky, Ohio, against Baldwin Wallace and Hiram.
