Women's Volleyball: Bethany opens the season with wins against Baldwin Wallace and Hiram

SANDUSKY, Ohio – Bethany College women's volleyball team earned a pair of victories to open up the 2023 season Friday at the Great Lakes Crossover held at the Cedar Point Sports Complex. Bethany took the first game from Baldwin Wallace in three sets and handed Hiram a 3-1 loss in the second match of the evening.

  • Bethany 3, Baldwin Wallace 0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-17)
  • Bethany 3, Hiram 1 (25-20, 33-31, 12-25, 25-18)

 

MATCH NOTES

  • The Bison were picked first in the annual Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) preseason polls and have everyone returning that were a part of the program's third PAC Championship last season.
  • In the match against Hiram, three Bison had 10+ kills led by Sydney Kirker with 14 followed by Emma Marthins (12) and Destiny Goodnight (11). Asia Crim led the defense with 28 digs.
  • Head Coach Jordan Barton earned her first win as the program's head coach in the sweep over Baldwin Wallace.

WHAT'S NEXT?  

The Bison return to the court on Saturday, Sept. 2 in a non-conference doubleheader against Trine and Ohio Northern to close out the Great Lakes Crossover. First match against Trine begins at 8 am followed by a short break before tipoff against Ohio Northern.
