Women's Volleyball: Bison sweep Barons

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Bethany College women's volleyball team handed the Franciscan University Barons their sixth loss of the season with a clean 3-0 sweep inside Finnegan Fieldhouse Tuesday evening.

THE MATCHUP

  • Bethany 3, Franciscan (25-18, 25-19, 25-21)  

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Momentum began with the Bison who took a 15-5 lead over the Barons. Franciscan would call a timeout and score the next four points. Bethany would respond and win the set, 25-18.
  • In set two, the Bison and Barons went back and forth exchanging points until the Bison finally took the lead after being deadlocked at 11-11. The Bison would score six points to take a 17-12 lead. The Bison would maintain the lead and take set two, 25-19.
  • The final set saw the teams battling back and forth for majority of the set. After taking the lead at 19-19, the Bison held on to win 25-21 to sweep the Barons.

MATCH NOTES

  • Riley Felton led the Bison with 13 kills and just one error to hit .600 on the night. She added three aces and one blocked.
  • Olivia Koehler had 11 kills and 11 digs on the night. She added one block and one ace.
  • Alaina Torres led with 33 assists while Asia Crim led with 13 digs.

WHAT'S NEXT?  

The Bison return to the court on Saturday, Sept. 30 when they host Saint Vincent College inside Hummel Field House at 12:30 pm. Prior to the match Bethany will honor their 2022 PAC Women's Volleyball Champions with a ring ceremony beginning at 11:30 am.
