Softball: Bison Split with Presidents

Bethany, W.Va. – The Bethany College softball team hosted the Washington & Jefferson Presidents for a non-conference double-header Sunday afternoon on Bison Field. The Bison split with the Presidents, taking game one 8-1 and falling 13-3 in the second game.   

Game One Overview

Bethany defeated W&J, 8-1    

 

The first two innings were scoreless. The Bison crossed the plate first after Morgan Huey singled driving in Carli Julio. Next batter Angela Brandel drove in Paige Allen to score the Bison's second run of the inning. After a Jennifer Oberthur double, the Bison led 4-0 after the third inning.

The Presidents plated a run of their own in the top of the fourth, but the Bison answered with two runs to take a 6-1 lead. Bethany added two more runs in the sixth inning to hold onto a secure lead.

The Presidents took a quick lead after a three run homerun in the first inning. They held an 8-0 lead after six innings. Morgan Huey broke the no-hitter that Jordan Hinz had going for the Presidents in the sixth inning. Bethany got on the board after Tatum Barrass drove in Huey. The Bison tacked on two more runs after Jen Oberthur singled to left scoring Brandel and Barrass. The Presidents had an answer, adding five runs in the top of the seventh to lock in the win.
