Softball: Bison Drop Two to Golden Tornadoes

Beaver Falls, Pa. – The Bethany College softball team adeventured north to Beaver Falls, Pa for a double-header contest against the Geneva Golden Tornadoes Friday afternoon at Conrady Field. The Golden Tornadoes swept the Bison, 7-6 and 8-4.    

Game One Overview

Bethany fell in the seventh inning, 7-6, to Golden Tornadoes   

The Bison jumped out to a quick lead in the first after Jen Oberthur drove in Angela Brandel. The Green and White added two more runs in the top of the third. Tatum Barrass singled driving in Morgan Huey and Gabriella Capaldi drove in Maddison Andrejcik.

The Golden Tornadoes added a run of their own in the bottom half of the third to cut the lead to 3-1. Later in the fifth inning, Andrejcik drove in Brandel to give the Bison a three run lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Geneva cut the lead again, 4-2.

Bethany built a 6-2 lead in the top of the sixth, but Geneva battled back, added one run in the bottom half of the sixth. Then crossed the plate three times to take game one from the Bison.

Game Two Overview
Bethany drops game two, 8-4 to Geneva

Geneva took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. The Bison were held scoreless until the fourth inning, when Jennifer Oberthur drove in Tatum Barrass, but in the bottom half of the inning, the Golden Tornadoes hit a three-run homerun to take a 6-1 lead and added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 8-1.

Alex Kopec in the sixth drove in Oberthur to cut the lead to six. Moments later, Katie Fuchs singled driving in Brandel. The Bison would add one more run in the top of the seventh off of a Barrass single that plated Brandel.

The Bethany College Bison will travel to Waynesburg, Pa for a double-header matchup against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets on Sunday, March 14. First pitch is slated for 2 pm with game two at approximately 4 pm.
