Jack Waters Named PAC Offensive Player of the Week

Sept. 14 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – After leading the Bison men's soccer team to their first two victories of the season, Bethany junior Jack Waters was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, announced the PAC on Monday afternoon.

Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) jump-started the Bison offense in a 2-1 overtime win over Mt. Aloysius. He notched the first score of the year for Bethany, finishing off a cross from Alex Burak (Melbourne, Fla./Eau Gallie) in the 79th minute. After Mt. Aloysius tied up the game in the 89th minute, the Bison found themselves heading into an overtime period.  Six minutes in, Bethany earned a penalty kick and sent their captain to the line. Waters calmly stepped up and gave the Bison a 2-1 win.

Waters picked up right where he left off in the Bison's next match against Pitt-Greensburg. The junior captain received a pass from Landon Winstead (Owings, Md./Northern) and found the back of the net to give the Green & White an early lead. After the intermission, Waters earned an assist after he found teammate Christian Corona (Miami, Fla./Southdade), who scored his first goal of the season. Waters was the one to put the game away for good when he scored his second goal of the contest to make it 3-0 in the 77th minute.

The junior midfielder has earned a point on every score for the Bison this season. Waters has totaled 15 shots, with 11 of them coming on goal. He had two game-winning goals this week, and his four goals tripled his career-goal total.

Waters and the Bison will be back in action on Wednesday, September 16 when they welcome Franciscan University at 4:00 p.m.
