Bison Men's Soccer Drops 2-0 Decision to Frostburg State

Sept. 2 – FROSTBURG. Md. – The Bethany College men's soccer team (0-1) dropped a 2-0 decision to Frostburg State University on Wednesday night.

The Bison managed to create some good scoring opportunities but failed to get a shot past the Bobcat keeper. The Green & White fought hard to battle adversity early as a couple close plays didn't go their way.

Bethany got off to a tough start when a Frostburg State pass bounced off a Bison defender and found its way into the net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. The two teams traded possession for the remainder of the half and the Bison went into the half down by the same score.

Early in the second half, Frostburg State struck again as freshman Guy Nabo put one into the corner of the goal to make it a 2-0 game.

Goalkeeper Callum Appleby (Maidstone, United Kingdom/Maidstone Grammar School) was solid in net and ended up with seven saves on 15 Bobcat shots.

The Bison offense was led by junior captain Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) and sophomore forward Abdullahi Abdullahi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) with two shots each.

Bethany will be back in action on Friday September 4 when they take on Keystone College in a game played at Johns Hopkins University. The contest is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
