DEFIANCE, Ohio (Sept. 3) - The Bison were knocked off 2-0 by Defiance at the Purple & Gold Classic Sunday afternoon in a non-conference match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Jackets got on the board with a goal in the second-minute of the game to establish an early advantage.
  • Defiance withstood Bethany's attempt to equalize the contest, as the Bison attempted six shots in the first 14 minutes of the game.
  • The Green & White had a trio of corner kicks and two shots on goal between the 64th and 68th minutes, but did not find the back of the net.
  • Defiance added an insurance marker in the 90th-minute to complete the 2-0 win.

MATCH NOTES

  • Freshman Torben Grether (Rheinfelden, Germany/Georg-Buchner) made four saves in the loss.
  • Bethany held a 20-to-15 advantage in shots and attempted nine corner kicks, compared to the four taken by Defiance.
  • The Jackets were whistled for 21 fouls in the match, while the Bison were charged with 13 infractions.
