BETHANY, W.Va. (Sept. 30) - The Bethany College men's soccer team cruised to a 6-0 win over Penn State-New Kensington at Hoag Field for its annual Homecoming match.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Sophomore Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) notched a natural hat-trick in the non-conference affair. He scored in the 33rd-minute what would become the game-winning goal to put Bethany ahead 1-0 in the first half. He went on to add goals in the 51st and 60th minutes of the match that pushed the Bison lead to 3-0.
  • Senior Matt Jones (Goodyear, Ariz./Estrella Foothills) added a fourth goal in the 69th-minute to make the score 4-0.
  • Freshman Iwan Mooney (Cardif, Wales/Plasmawr) netted the match's final two goals with scores in the 73rd and 80th minutes to pull the Bison well out in front of the visiting Lions. Mooney added an assist on Sallah-Mohammed's first goal to his final line.

MATCH NOTES

  • Sophomore goalkeeper Michael Ceraolo (Weirton, W.Va./Weir) earned the start and made one save to collect his first collegiate win.
  • Bethany out-shot New Kensington 32-to-3 for the match and attempted 13 corner kicks.
  • Senior A.J. Wahlie (Wapakoneta, Ohio/Wapakoneta) finished the game with two assists.
