Softball: Bison drop a pair to close out spring break trip

RALEIGH, N.C. – Bethany College softball closed out their trip to Raleigh, NC with a pair of losses in the Grand Slam Triangle Classic to Maryville and #1 Christopher Newport, Sunday Afternoon.   

Game One Overview

Maryville 10, Bethany 4

Through the first three innings, Maryville led 5-0. Bethany scored their first run of the game after Brooke Markland scored on a throwing error. The Scots tacked on two more runs after a two-run homerun. Haley Eyler hit her first homerun of the season to give the Bison their second run in the bottom of the fourth. Ally McClelland and Felicity Eli crossed the plate to bring the Bison within three, 7-4. The Scots added three more runs putting the game out of reach for the Bison.

Game Two Overview

#1 Christopher Newport 4, Bethany 0

The Bison fell behind early, 3-0 to the Captains. CNU added one more run in the fifth inning. The Captains' pitcher Kate Alger earned her second win of the year while fanning 13 Bison.

  • Eyler had a homerun in the first game.
  • Goodnight had one RBI in game one.
  • Brooke Markland and Morgan Huey had two hits apiece in game one.
