Softball: Goodnight and McClelland earn Academic All-District honors from College Sports Communicators

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Bethany College softball team had two players named to the 2022-23 Academic All-District® teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), Tuesday afternoon.

The Academic All-District® teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes baseball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Juniors Destiny Goodnight (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) and Ally McClelland (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) earned Academic All-District® honors. It is the first Academic All-District® selection for both.

Goodnight, a first baseman and All-PAC Honorable Mention selection, hit .292 with 28 hits and 20 hits. She drew nine walks and held a .358 on-base percentage. As a sports management major she holds a 3.69 GPA.

McClelland, an outfielder, posted 14 hits, nine runs, and eight RBIs this season for the Bison. As a biology major, she holds a 3.88 GPA and is a two-time PAC Academic Honor Roll honoree.

All-District honors are selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes men's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All‐District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All‐America® ballot. First‐, second and third‐team Academic All‐ America® honorees will be announced June 7.
