Softball: Bison and Golden Tornadoes split

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – Bethany College and Geneva College took on a PAC conference doubleheader Friday afternoon. The Bison used a six run seventh inning to come from behind to win game one, 11-10 and fell to the Golden Tornadoes, 7-4 in game two.   

Game One Overview

Bethany 11, Geneva 10

The Golden Tornadoes took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning and added six runs in the fourth to lead 9-0 over the Bison. In the fifth, Mary Marshall drove in Destiny Goodnight to plate the first Bison run. Morgan Huey singled to score Brooke Markland and Trista Morris doubled to score Huey and Marshall bringing the Bison within five. Morris would score off a Jersie Knight single, bringing the Bison within four.

The Golden Tornadoes added one run in the bottom of the sixth. Trailing by five in their final at bats, the Bison mustered up six runs on three hits and two errors. The Bison scoring began when Destiny Goodnight hit a bases loaded single, driving in Ally McClelland and Emma Sorensen. Markland added in one run driving in Felicity Eli. Huey kept her hot streak alive hitting bases clearing double giving the Bison the lead.

Josie Wise would strike out two batters in the seventh and earned the save.

Game Two Overview

Geneva 7, Bethany 4

The Bison struck first in game two. Destiny Goodnight scored on a wild pitch and next pitch later, Mary Marshall scored to give the Green and White a 2-0 lead. The Golden Tornadoes split the lead in half after scoring a run in the bottom half of the inning.

In the second, Elizabeth Shubert doubled to score Ally McClelland and in the next inning, Huey doubled to drive in Felicity Eli giving Bethany a 4-1 lead. The Golden Tornadoes took the lead in the fourth after scoring five runs and added two runs in the sixth inning to seal the win.
