Softball: Bison fall to Cardinals before tying in non-conference tilt

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Bethany College softball dropped the first game in a non-conference matchup to Otterbein, 11-2, before the teams tied game two at six due to darkness after seven innings, Tuesday afternoon.  

Game One Overview

Otterbein 11, Bethany 2

Otterbein scored eight runs over the course of the first three innings. Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth inning. The Bison plated four runs in the fifth after Angela Brandel reached first on a throwing error allowing Ally McClelland to score followed by Morgan Huey, Elizabeth Shubert, and Felicity Eli singles. After cutting the lead in half, the Bison allowed the Cardinals to score three runs off of errors and miscues.

Game Two Overview

Bethany 6, Otterbein 6

Bethany took the lead first in the third inning. Brooke Markland singled to center field that scored Angela Brandel. Moments later, Morgan Huey doubled driving in three Bison runners. Felicity Eli singled to drive in Huey to give the Bison a 5-0 lead. The Bison scored their last run of the game in the fourth inning after Markland drove in Brandel. Bethany led 6-0 heading into the fifth inning.

The Cardinals cut the deficit in the fifth inning scoring four runs and tied the game in the seventh inning. The game would eventually be called due to darkness resulting in a tie.

The Bison will return to PAC action on Thursday, Mar. 30 when they travel to Grove City College for a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 pm.
