GROVE CITY, Pa. – Bethany softball split against Grove City after grabbing a 4-1 victory and eventually falling 8-0 in Thursday's PAC doubleheader.
Game One Overview
Bethany 4, Grove City 1
The Bison struck early to open game one. Mary Marshall singled to center field to drive in Destiny Goodnight. Moments later, Morgan Huey doubled scoring Brooke Markland and Mary Marshall. Huey would later score after Ally McClelland grounded out. The Bison led 4-0 after the first inning.
Bethany would hold the lead while shutting out Grove City until the sixth inning. The Wolverines would break the shutout after an error that allowed Lexi Buck to score. The Bison would hold onto the three run lead to win their second game of the season.
Bison Leaders Game One
- Morgan Huey led the Bison with two RBIs.
- Shelby Barnett earned the victory on the mound pitching 7.0 innings with three hits and five strikeouts.
- Ally McClelland and Mary Marshall had one RBI each.
- Destiny Goodnight, Brooke Markland, Mary Marshall and Morgan Huey all scored for the Bison.
Game Two Overview
Grove City 8, Bethany 0
The Wolverines came into game two with revenge scoring four runs in the third and four in the fifth to take the game in five innings. Kaitlyn Constantino pitched a one hit shutout for the Wolverines.
