Softball: Bison Split to Open 2022 Season

Clermont, Fl. – The Bethany College softball team opened the 2022 season against St. Mary's (Ind.) and Emerson at the Spring Games in Clermont Florida, Monday afternoon.

Game One Overview

Bethany 6, St. Mary's 0  

Bethany and St. Mary's were scoreless through three innings. The Bison scored a run in the fourth and tacked on four runs in the sixth. The Green and White added an insurance run in the seventh. Josie Wise pitched a complete game shutout. The sophomore pitcher gave up two hits and fanned 13. Morgan Huey led the Bison with two runs batted in. Destiny Goodnight went 3-for-4 in her first appearance with the Bison.

Game Two Overview

Emerson 21, Bethany 3

The Emerson Lions exploded for nine runs in the first inning to take a commanding lead over the Bison. Bethany scored three runs in the third to cut the deficit to 10-3. Emerson scored four runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth to take a 21-3 victory from the Bison.
