Softball: Bethany Earns Wins over Hiram and Saint Joseph's

Clermont, Fl. – After a day of canceled games due to weather, the Bison returned to the diamond to face the Hiram College Terriers and Saint Joseph's College of Maine Monks at the Spring Games.  

Game One Overview

Bethany 5, Hiram 4

It was a back and forth affair with the Bison and Terriers. Bethany scored a run in the first inning after Morgan Huey walked, which scored Destiny Goodnight. In the bottom half of the inning, the Terriers knotted the game at 1-1. The Bison scored in the second inning after Destiny Goodnight reached on an error that drove in two Bison runners.

The Terriers regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning, leading 4-3 after two innings. Bethany earned their first hit of the game on a Jennifer Oberthur double in the fifth inning. Bethany crossed the plate to deadlock the game at 4-4 after Morgan Huey drove in Kathleen Fuchs.

Josie Wise earned her third win of the season pitching all seven innings. She walked two and struck out five.

Game Two Overview

Bethany 1, Saint Joseph's 0

The Bison scored in the bottom of the first to hold a 1-0 lead through all seven innings. Jennifer Oberthur grounded out to second, driving in Paige Allen. Jennica Levermann earned the victory, pitching five innings. Josie Wise earned the save. Wise pitched two innings and fanned five. Lexie Vetter and Carli Julio led the Bison with two hits apiece.

Up Next:

Bethany returns to the diamond on Saturday, March 12 for two games to finish their spring break trip in Florida. The Bison will face Nebraska Wesleyan at 4:45 pm and William Paterson at 7 pm.
