Softball: Titans Sweep Bison

Bethany, W.Va. – The Bethany College softball team faced the Westminster Titans in a PAC doubleheader Thursday afternoon at Bison Field.

Game One Overview

Westminster 9, Bethany 4 (9 innings)

The Bison took an early 1-0 lead after Jennifer Oberthur singled to drive in Lexie Vetter. In the fourth inning, Oberthur scored on a Titan error to take a 2-0 lead. Moments later, Mary Marshall stole home to extend the lead to 3-0.

The Titans evened the score at 3-3 after a Titan three-run homerun and took a 4-3 lead in the sixth inning. Paige Allen evented the score at 4-4 in the bottom of the sixth. Neither team could score in the final inning of regulation. The Titan bats exploded five runs in the top of the ninth to claim the victory.

Game Two Overview

Westminster 10, Bethany 2 (5 Innings)

Westminster continued momentum into game two scoring three runs in the second inning followed by a one run third inning to take a 4-0 lead. Bethany's Destiny Goodnight doubled to drive in Paige Allen. Mary Marshall drove in Haley Eyler to cut the Titan lead in half, 4-2. The fourth inning doomed the Bison. The Titans took a 9-2 lead after a five run fourth inning. In the fifth the Titans added one more run in the fifth to seal the win.
